Merry and Pippin
"What about their legs? They don't need those..."
Grishnįkh

The Uruk-hai who killed Boromir and captured Merry and Pippin were acting under specific orders to kill every member of the Fellowship except the halflings who were to be taken to Saruman at Isengard unspoiled. This was because he knew that one of them was carrying a small gold ring. The One Ring. These Uruk's, bearing the mark of the white hand, carried off Merry and Pippin, bound them and took them on a long and terrible journey across the plains of Middle-earth.
As they travelled, though his hands were bound, Pippin managed to plant his beautiful Elven broach on the ground in the hope that if anyone was following them it would show that the hobbits were still alive. Later the Uruk-hai rested on the edge of the ancient Fangorn Forest. It was here that the terrible creatures were ambushed by Riders of Rohan and all were slain.
While the battle was taking place Merry and Pippin managed to break their bonds and fled. There was only one way for them to go. Into the Forest.
