Gimli son of Glóin
"Nobody tosses a Dwarf!"
Gimli

Dwarves have lived in Middle-earth as long as the Elves. Though Dwarves are smaller than Men, they are taller than hobbits. The Dwarves live underground and create huge halls in the stone beneath the earth.
Dwarves are fierce warriors and are greatly skilled in the art of working metal and stone, and their work is renowned throughout Middle-earth. The Dwarves of Moria found the metal Mithril, a strange substance, hard as rock but barely matches a feather in weight. dwarves are often seen to be greedy as they seem to think of nothing but gold and other riches.
Since the Second Age there has been immense mistrust between the races of Elves and Dwarves and so it was obvious that some problems could arise from having an Elf and a Dwarf in the Fellowship of the Ring.
Gimli, son of Glóin of the Dwarves of Erebor, the Lonely Mountain, represents the race of Dwarves in the Fellowship of the Ring. Gimli is often bad-tempered an loathes Elves, although this may change as their journey progresses. He is a strong fighter when he gets the opportunity and is often very competitive when it comes to his companion Legolas, an Elf.
Gimli carries many axes; a walking axe which he uses like a walking stick, two throwing axes and several others which he will, no doubt, make use of during the course of the quest.
