Edoras
"Edoras and the Golden Hall of Meduseld. There dwells Théoden, King of Rohan, whose mind is overthrown."
Gandalf

Edoras is the chief city of Rohan and it is here that King Théoden can be found in his great Golden Hall. This beautiful building is covered in carvings depicting stories from the history of Rohan and showing their love for their horses.
Understandably the people of Edoras look on in wonder at the strange sight before them as the elderly man many recognise as Gandalf rode up to the hall of Théoden with a Man, an Elf and a Dwarf. As Gimli noticed everybody around them seemed very grim, probably having heard the news of the attacks on the borders and of the death of their King's son, Théodred.
Watching the company from the top of the steps leading to Meduseld is a fair lady, robed in white, beautiful but cold. Once Aragorn looks up and sees her but when he glances away for a moment she is gone.
At the doors to Meduseld the companions are asked to give up their weapons, which they all do reluctantly, all except Gandalf, who agrees to give up his sword but will not allow them to part him from his staff, saying that he needs it to help him walk. The guards give in and allow them to enter the Golden Hall to meet with the King, and Gandalf is allowed to keep his staff.
