The Desolation of Isengard
"Still dark and tall, unbroken by the storm, the tower of Orthanc stood. Pale waters lapped about its feet"
The Road to Isengard

Upon arrival at Isengard Aragorn and company are met by two familiar faces. They belong to none other than Merry and Pippin who have been ordered by Treebeard to watch the gate and give a message to them when they arrive.
They have a small meal prepared and together with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas they sit, share some pipe weed and catch up on all that has come to pass since they parted. When this has been done they must face the matters at hand.
Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Théoden, Éomer and the hobbits make their way to Orthanc through the debris of Isengard. During the negotiations with Saruman a large, round projectile comes hurtling down which is picked up by Peregrin Took. Gandalf swiftly takes it from him and puts it safely away.
The negotiations are unsuccessful and so Gandalf appoints Treebeard master of Isengard and has him set watch to ensure that Saruman and his servant Wormtongue do not escape, then the company move on.
