Aragorn
"You are Isildur's heir, not Isildur himself"
Arwen

We first meet Aragorn, a Ranger, hiding in the shadows at the Prancing Pony when he is little more than a Cloaked Stranger. He's a well travelled man, neither young nor old, who goes by the name of Strider and is known to Barliman Butterbur as a wandering Northern Man.
At first Strider may appear to be an enemy or a spy of Sauron, although not all is as it seems, not only is Strider a friend of the wizard Gandalf the Grey, he is also chief of the Dúnedain and heir to the throne of Gondor. For he is Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and although he is reluctant to claim his birthright he acknowledges it in the form of Narsil; the sword his ancestor Isildur used to cut the Ruling Ring from Saurons hand and the Ring of Barahir.
Aragorn has grown up with the Elves at the house of Elrond and is in love with Arwen Úndomiel, daughter of Elrond and grand-daughter of Galadriel. As he is but a mortal man and she one of the fair race of Elves their relationship seems impossible. During the course of the War of the Ring Aragorn must make many choices, many of which affect the peoples of Middle-earth and carve out his future.
